Online Travel Writing Contest Launched - All Revealed

Government funding cuts to the arts have prompted a group of writers to launch an online travel writing contest – www.thetravelwritingcontest.com.

The competition will provide writers of both fiction and non-fiction with a new outlet to be published – as well as the chance to win £100!

Two travel writers have agreed to be judges in the contest. One is renowned UK journalist and travel writer Paul Gogarty, who has authored a number of books including The Coast Road. The second judge is Canadian journalist and travel writer Bill Corbett. Based in Calgary, Bill has written many travel pieces and books, including The 11,000ers of the Canadian Rockies.

The contest is open to travel writers across the globe. Entries must be in English and be under 3,000 words.  The full rules and entry guidelines can be found on www.thetravelwritingcontest.com

Even if you are not a travel writer, feel free to share with us your favourite travel works and why you like them. These will be published on the site and shared with others.

It is hoped that budding and established travel writers to enter, and that the contest will both encourage and inspire. The deadline is midnight May 31, 2011. If the contest is a success then more will take place in the future.
